Overview of Your Role

Has responsibility for SIA core accounting process and financial reporting, and the maintenance of its fiscal records. Responsible for the integrity of financial records.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Daily system maintenance and financial reports
  • Prepare company payables, accounts receivables, direct bill vendor statements and cash reconciliation functions.
  • Maintain list of advances
  • Prepare various month-end schedules for management
  • Process operating deposits and payments / withdrawals and record G/L entries
  • Monitor and maintain operating bank account activity daily ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly and research any unidentified transactions. Ensure daily balances are at acceptable levels and transfer funds as needed.
  • Prepare month-end cash flow analysis
  • Assist with agency audit and budgets
  • Enter forecast and budget revisions when necessary into appropriate system.
  • Must have working knowledge and ability to complete the following and record appropriate entries:
  • Maintain chart of accounts ensuring accounts are on both EPIC and Prologue G/L’s
  • Monitor and correct any errors that are generated through night utilities and are reported on the daily error logs
  • Record payroll and benefit entries
  • Record payroll deduct and reconcile with SEFCU Payroll as needed
  • Calculate depreciation and amortization with accordance with agency guidelines
  • Lunch/Petty cash checks & reconciliations
  • Download and reconcile Direct Bill Statements monthly ensuring all transactions are accounted for and recorded in system.
  • Record Interest income and or Expense entries as appropriate and reconcile balance of any receivables or accruals
  • Prepaid/accrual entries and reconciliations
  • Maintain intercompany accounts and reconcile with affiliated companies
  • Monitor, maintain, and knowledge of general ledger accounts
  • Run system reports (m/e prep- required reports)
  • Ensure Month-end close process completed timely
  • Create various financial reports as requested by senior management
  • Research and report on variances from income statement to forecast and budget accounts.
  • All year end prep, closings, and filings (AP 1099’s), Need understanding of GAAP versus Tax rules
  • Reconcile necessary balance sheet accounts and review outstanding items with Line of Business,
  • Assist with creation, review, and maintenance of accounting department procedures
  • Maintain General Ledger Chart of Accounts and update or prepare descriptions as needed to the descriptive Chart of Accounts.
  • Work with SIA and CUSO Accounting management
  • Cross-train within other areas of CUSO Accounting (Mortgage and Title CUSOs)
  • Provide training on accounting procedures when needed.
  • Develop working relationship with fellow employees to resolve issues as they arise
  • Work with Line of business on any require FASB changes to policies and procedures.
  • Ensure financial statements are in compliance with FASB changes
  • Cross train with other accounting staff for dept coverage and teamwork
  • Complete required financial data for regulatory reports.
  • Other duties as needed

Credentials, Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred, or Associates degree with two years minimum related experience
  • Insurance accounting experience required
  • Working knowledge of accounting in Applied EPIC
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and PC skills
  • Strong reasoning, analytical skills, and communication skill
  • Your ability to be bonded is required
