Job description: OVERVIEW:

The Accounts Receivable Specialist is part of our accounting department within a fast-growing, dynamic, public non-profit national fairgrounds with over 300 events per year from local meetings to Nebraska’s largest county fair and the World’s Largest Rodeo. Successful candidates will have a passion to play a leadership role in Lancaster County’s fairgrounds achieving our mission to further local engagement with agriculture while delivering major impact on our youth, community, and economy. You are an experienced, take charge professional with ability to manage administration and logistics in support of multiple directions in a busy events environment. You thrive on anticipating project needs and meeting deadlines with little supervision and are willing to work occasional evenings and weekends around LEC’s largest event needs. You have a passion for winning in a challenging event environment while providing outstanding customer service, being a positive role model within our LEC team, and being able to build relationships with internal and external customers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with our accounting team & Events staff
  • High school diploma or GED, require
  • Associates Degree in Accounting
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred
  • Experience plus – Great training for recent graduate
  • Candidate must be able to pass a criminal background check

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Daily reconcile of credit card deposit revenues using multiple platforms

· Daily recording of cash receipts in QuickBooks

· Logging of bank deposits

· Generate Invoicing in QuickBooks in collaboration with Events staff, answering customer invoice questions & developing positive customer relationships

· Apply payments to Customer accounts in QuickBooks & Ungerboeck

· Daily recording of other relevant financial information into Ungerboeck event management software including upload of documents

· Maintain customer files as needed

· Timely response to Event staff and Customer inquiries related to Billing

· Identify delinquent accounts and work with Event staff and Customers to resolve

· Assist with accounting period closes as needed, including preparation of AR reports for Controller

· Communicate regularly with Controller

· Take ownership of the Accounts Receivable module by knowing details of upcoming events specifically financial but also general event stats, retaining knowledge on billed events, & staying on top of the Receivable aging

· Provides backup support to Front Desk for lunches and last hour of the day; including answering calls, providing general information, assisting walk-in customers/vendors/exhibitors; closing down the front office daily

· Provides backup support for AP Specialist with entering invoices, writing checks and mailing.

· Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS:

Software systems used includes:

  • Microsoft skills, Strong specifically in Excel & Outlook preferred
  • QuickBooks Desktop- Extensive current knowledge strongly preferred
  • Ungerboeck event and venue management software- will train
  • Shopkeep point of sales software- will train
  • Credit Card processing platforms- will train

  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Agriculture/animal/4-H/FFA/rodeo/nature background/interest preferred but not required
  • Ability to be available limited nights/weekends to work 3-4 large events per year with the rest of LEC team

PAY & Hours:

Team Member: $15-19/hr based on experience

Hours 8:30am – 5:00pm, varied hours for large events as needed

Expected salary: $15 – 19 per hour
