Job description: Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Assistant Director – IT will assist with creating the operations and people strategy for Information Technology. The Assistant Director – IT is also responsible for providing oversight to leadership, vision and long-range goals/objectives of the technology services infrastructure and support system, and all help desk functions.

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance in driving resolution to complex issues by doing a thorough analysis of root cause and impact of the defect.
  • Proactively search for patterns to issues and develops mechanisms to permanently resolve.
  • Monitor process and technology changes, communicates operation information to staff and raise production support concerns to appropriate teams.
  • Ensure timely, regular, and consistent communication to all impacted parties, such as change calendars, outage notices, trend reports, and action plans.
  • Establish, manages, and meets/exceeds defined internal and external service level agreements
  • Build a collaborative culture in partnership with the business units of the organization.
  • Ensure there is regular and effective communications both within IT operations teams and across departments and creates a focus on accountability and customer service.
  • Assist with leading and enabling operational excellence through development and management of IT department staff. Inclusive of all people leadership activities such as hiring, goal setting, performance management and appraisals, coaching, effective delegation of work and supervising staff participation in cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure the consistency and maintainability of existing infrastructure environments by creating, maintaining, and enforcing well documented standards/procedures.
  • Manage simultaneous large-scale projects with an emphasis towards defect-free, on-time, on-budget, and in-scope completion.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain well documented processes coupled with efficient and consistent work methodologies that conform to and support audit, security, and business continuity requirements Provide constant and thorough communication to stakeholders, project teams, departments, and oversight groups to promote awareness, mitigate risk, and ensure understanding.
  • Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analysis for IT operations spending and initiatives.
  • Management responsibilities for the department include hiring of new team members, promotions, creating an environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, discipline, recognition, and termination.
  • Safety is an essential function of this job.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Infrastructure, or similar related disciplines high preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Nevada Gaming Control Board registration and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy.
  • 7+ years of relevant Information Technology experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant management experience.
  • Ability to understand and work with in highly dynamic and high-pressure environments.
  • Excellent leadership skills with experience providing staff with technical leadership and mentoring across all disciplines.

  • Determined to succeed. Strong drive for results along with a hands-on and roll-up-the-sleeves disposition.
  • Enthusiastic problem solver with advanced critical thinking, strong attention to detail and decision-making capabilities.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to:

  • Lift or carry 30 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
