Assistant General Counsel:
Victra is seeking an Assistant General Counsel, Litigation and Labor and Employment with strong business acumen to serve as the chief litigation and employment attorney for the company. This position is based out of the company’s Raleigh Corporate Office, reporting directly to the company’s General Counsel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As the Assistant General Counsel, you will work within a corporate culture where Performance, Integrity, Collaboration, Innovation, and Celebration are the mantras of success. In this role, you will:
- Oversee all litigation, complaints/claims and disputes.
- Collaborate with, and provide strategic advice to relevant departments, including, but not limited to, Human Resources on employment policies and practices.
- Manage outside counsel on all litigation and employment matters.
- Develop and deliver legal training to company personnel and leadership.
- Prepare legal documents as required, such as severance agreements.
- Advise senior leadership on practical and pragmatic ways in which to mitigate risk.
- Develop standard work and processes to operate more efficiently and to control spend, including, playbooks, toolkits, templates, escalation guidelines, alternative fee arrangements, engagement letters, outside counsel spend policies, to name a few.
- Monitor and navigate emergent employment law developments.
- Any and all other tasks that may be needed to get the job done.
COMPETENCIES & QUALIFICATIONS

- Combined 7 to 10 years’ experience practicing employment law at a law firm or in-house.
- Juris Doctorate from accredited law school.
- Deep knowledge of federal and California employment laws.
- Experience as first or second chair in employment litigation, preferably in federal or California state court as well as in arbitrations.
- Experience investigating claims of discrimination, harassment and retaliation and mediating employment-related disputes.
- Willingness and ability to move quickly to provide timely and practical advice.
- Ability to collaborate across multiple business lines using strong leadership skills to engage multiple levels of the organization.
- A commitment to, and experience in, process improvement protocols and systems.
- Ability to work independently and to work with others who work independently.
- Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through, and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Exceptional business acumen, analytical ability, and people skills.
- A leader-first mentality.
- Wireless and/or Retail experience preferred but not required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises one Paralegal.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Juris Doctorate from an ABA approved law school, and membership in good standing in at least one State bar.
