The Category Manager for our Corrections channel is responsible for all aspects of product procurement for assigned OpCo’s to include: managing procurement team performance as measured by fill rates, inventory levels, and turns, dead and obsolete inventory, margin and cost of goods, Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) reduction or consolidation and supplier credits. Serve as a liaison to field for support on procurement issues. This role will also manage existing Corrections programs, collaborate with replenishment buyers, determine best possible product for best possible value, and will negotiate program support. Directly responsible for managing several team members. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Supervises associates to include, but not limited to: staffing, training, coaching, performance management and problem resolution.
Demonstrate a strong service quality commitment through personal example, and ensure all associates understand their individual roles in meeting or exceeding internal and external customer’s expectations.
Ensure fill rates of 98.5% or higher while maintaining inventory targets set by the field.
Reduce inventory write off exposure by managing dead, obsolete and overstocked products.
Ensure product costs are correct and consistent.
Maximize margin by managing cost of goods using current tools (i.e., 3% and Purchase Cost Variance reports.)
Assist in purchasing as needed
Maximize turns and fill rates by utilizing inventory / purchasing computer systems completely and accurately
Identifies opportunities and develops local marketing and earned income initiatives in conjunction with the Sales/Marketing Manager.
Responsible for maintaining and collection of local supplier-funded deviations and local earned income programs.
Measures supplier performance, to include supplier scorecarding and supplier reviews.
Seeks out new suppliers, products, and opportunities for innovation.
Works with corporate logistics and local operations to identify and implement backhaul revenue.
Assists in local sourcing and negotiating local programs.
Performs other related duties as assigned
Travel up to 25%. Corrections experience is a plus, but not required.
We are open to candidates in the Reno, NV and Lansing, MI markets.
Full Time / Part Time
High School Diploma or equivalent
5-6 years experience in Food & Beverage or Corrections Purchasing/Procurement/Category Management
Team lead or supervisory experience
Bachelor’s degree in related field
6-10 years experience in Food & Beverage or Corrections Purchasing/Procurement/Category Management
Perishables strongly preferred
Corrections industry experience strongly preferred

$80-115k base salary + 30% annual bonus potential
