Anticipated Hiring Range

$5,500.00 – $5,665.00 Per Month {$66,000.00 – $67,980.00 Annually}

Position Summary

Working within the Center for Equity & Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CEETL), the Instructional Media

Designer/Developer supports the teaching and learning community by working collaboratively to support faculty

members across all ranks and colleges/departments in implementing effective instructional pedagogies and technologies

for various learning modes (face-to-face, blended, hybrid, online). By applying inclusive, anti-racist, and liberatory

pedagogies in support of student success, the incumbent will serve as a resource for faculty and instructional staff in the

design, development, evaluation, and revision of learning and teaching, with the goal of supporting student success. By

coordinating, producing, and developing instructional digital and print projects, including technical elements: narration,

video, photography, web, graphics, audio, transmission, podcasting, webcasting, lecture capture, and other media

elements to support CEETL faculty development programming, initiatives and special projects.

Position Information

Course Design and Development Support:

– Provide consultations to faculty in the design and development of curriculum and instruction across all learning modes,

using best practices of Universal Design principles and formats guided by Quality Learning & Teaching (QLT), including

creation of accessible course materials as part of the CSU Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI).

– Design, develop, and gather learning, teaching, and assessment resources in a variety of digital and print formats to

support curriculum offerings.

– Strategize methods for integrating technical tools and curriculum software tools into faculty instructional delivery and

projects.

– Collaborate with instructional design staff and faculty project collaborators to explore, evaluate and advise on technology

trends and developments, materials, and best practice techniques for educational uses.

– Work closely with campus faculty and related groups to support strategic initiatives, facilitate workshops & seminars, and

participate in communities as related to course design, development, facilitation, and appropriate educational

technologies.

Instructional Media Production:

– Produce and develop digital and print projects, coordinating technical elements including narration, video, photography,

web, graphics, audio, and transmission as appropriate to the project.

– Performs the full range of instructional design, technical and organizational work associated with small to medium sized

instructional media productions.

– Responsible for creating and editing copy for print and digital medium including and not limited to social media content,

email campaigns, print materials, websites, and other content as needed.

– Develop stories that effectively communicate with specific audiences with specific interests – e.g., justice, equity, diversity,

and inclusion; teaching and learning; domestic & international students, etc.

– Coordinate and maintain the overall execution of digital content from inception to completion by organizing schedules and

completing drafts or projects within deadlines.

– Coordinate day-to-day operations of the CEETL faculty digital studio.

– Work cross-functionally to share resources effectively and provide support materials, sample projects, and assessments.

Minimum Qualifications

To enter this classification, a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in technical information systems and application program packages is a prerequisite. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified coursework in applicable fields of study. Foundation knowledge and skills for the Information Technology Consultant, depending on the nature of the position assignment, may include working knowledge of common software application packages, equipment platforms, reference database systems and sources, and training methods and a basic understanding of networks, data communication, and multimedia systems.

The career level is broad and includes intermediate through senior level positions. Incumbents at this level work relatively independently and possess the experience to be fully proficient in performing most or all of the work assignments defined for their position. Typically, incumbents have acquired the requisite skills and knowledge through a combination of education, training, and progressive work experience to be able to demonstrate competence in independently applying technical judgment to standard and nonstandard applications and systems, solving a wide range of problems and developing practicable and thorough solutions, and using effective communication and listening skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of instructional design theories and methodologies and ability to apply them.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills in working with users to interpret needs and provide appropriate solutions
  • Ability to design, develop, and implement instructional applications.
  • Subject matter expertise in a specialized discipline or body of knowledge related to instructional/multimedia development.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply inclusive and anti-racist pedagogies to instructional media and course design, development and delivery.
  • Demonstrated commitment to honor, promote and advocate for justice, equity, diversity and inclusion in support of student
  • success.
