Primary Role and Responsibility:

Reporting to the Head of Marketing, this role is responsible for directing the creative vision for all brands under Korrus. This person will become an expert of all Korrus lines and know how to drive creative vision from the top down. This person is a natural leader with the ability to drive a creative team’s deliverables while ensuring that the creative vision remains in-tact. This person can balance many tasks and communicates well. This person has the ability to step in and do creative work, while also leading the vision of the work.

  • Build and manage a team of graphic designers and artists
  • Supervise and direct the creative process
  • Oversee and ensure all creative products produced by marketing team meet quality standards.
  • Translate complex ideas and stakeholder objectives into effective visual executions
  • Collaborates with leadership and business stakeholders to gain a clear understanding of campaign objectives and styles then translates that vision to marketing team to execute
  • Understand industry trends, including digital, advertising, and media
  • Utilize your own artistic ability, training, and creativity to create original and high-quality art products for the Company in various assigned product categories
  • Apply creative processes to create unique cutting-edge products and product designs
  • Prepare layouts, sketches, mock-ups, and other materials to illustrate new product concepts
  • Suggest editorial and marketing tie-ins
  • Manage the development of assigned products through internal and external resources, ensuring they release on time, meet all production requirements and established margin guidelines
  • Assign creative assignments to freelance resources and ensure that quality and execution of designs meets company standards
  • Communicate clear and accurate written print instructions to Graphic Design and Purchasing Departments to ensure correct printing of the product
  • Manage workload and schedule of artists and photographers
  • Manage the editorial, graphics, and production needs of assigned products in conjunction with writers, graphic designers
  • Adhere to cost/retail sales guidelines to ensure both high quality and high-volume product sales, and participate in the review/analysis of booking reports, retail sales, carryover, and feedback
  • Attend trade shows and press checks as needed
  • Keep current with trends in design, art, color, and product enhancement, as well as other market trends
  • Work in partnership with various company business units to design marketing assets
  • Clearly and persuasively communicate design strategy and the reasoning behind it
  • Iterates through design ideas very rapidly
  • Keeps current with current web, design, and advertising trends with the desire to push our own brand forward
  • Works very closely with copywriters and content producers
  • Must be able to manage deadline-driven projects and collaborate well in a team environment

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years’ experience as Art Director or Production Manager in card, gift or related industry
  • 7+ years of print and web design experience required; agency experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of pre-production, 4 color printing and special printing techniques
  • Strong project management and negotiating skills are necessary
  • College degree or diploma in graphic design or a related field required; design or art school is a plus
  • Requires a demonstrated ability to solve business and design problems
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of graphic design concepts and best practices for print, digital, and mobile
  • Strong typography skills required and must be detail-oriented
  • In-depth knowledge in print, branding, and digital
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, PowerPoint, Keynote
