A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Plans, directs, and implements all aspects of the company’s design and development of new medical device products or software systems.
  • May assist in the development, evaluation, implementation and maintenance of technical quality assurance and control systems or reliability systems and standards pertaining to materials, techniques, or company products.
  • Oversees the investigation and evaluation of existing or new technologies related to materials, equipment, tools, molds, and automation systems.
  • Guides the conceptualization of new or existing methodologies, documentations, materials, machines, processes, or products.
  • Directs the development of new concepts from initial design to market release.
  • Manages feasibility studies of the component(s) or product(s) design to determine if capable of functioning as intended.
  • Monitors documentation maintenance throughout all phases of product development including clinical study submissions.
  • Organizes the coordination of activities with external and internal suppliers and consultants to ensure timely delivery of development components.
  • May assist in the evaluation, selection, and development of personnel to ensure effective and efficient operation of the function.
  • This Engineering Program Manager is the recognized leader of Premarket Supplier Quality new product development.
  • Responsible for management of Neuromodulation Premarket Supplier Quality Team’s support of components qualification activities and supplier partnerships throughout the ID2MR phases of new product development.
  • Ability to strongly advocate for and represent Premarket Supplier Quality to a cross-functional team related to project and business needs.
  • Provides tactical and/or supplier quality leadership and coaching.
  • Responsible for leading project updates and delegate authority approver to hiring manager for documentation reviews and approvals.
  • Ensure the voice of Premarket Supplier Quality is properly captured, all team commitments and project contract metrics are met and communicated in a timely manner.
  • Leadership through influence in matrixed organization and ability to work well in a team environment including cross-culture and cross-functionally diverse teams
  • Indirect people management and development
  • Actively coach and mentor extended Premarket Supplier Quality Team
  • Excellent communication skills (ie. written, oral, and presentation done in-person and on remote/virtual systems like Zoom)
  • Excellent collaboration and engagement practices in cross-functional diverse teams.
  • Strong accountability and problem-solving mindset
  • Travel requirement: less than 25%

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science or technical field with 5+ years of work experience in Engineering, Quality, Supplier Quality, and/or experience in a regulated industry OR Advanced Degree in Engineering, Science or technical field with 3+ years of work experience in Engineering, Quality, and/or experience in a regulated industry.

Nice to Have

  • Project Management: Experience leading complex projects/programs
  • Experience in new product development or new process development including launch
  • Experience in medical device or highly regulated industry
  • Product/process technical expertise including qualifications (ie. validation including IQ, OQ, PQ activities; PPAP or related
  • Experience or knowledge of at least two related disciplines ( with knowledge of all) such as:
  • Product Development
  • Manufacturing Engineering
  • Supplier quality (including component qualifications)
  • Supplier quality supervisor/team leader, manufacturing supervisor/team leader, quality supervisor/team leader
  • Experience with Design for Reliability and Manufacturing (DRM), Design for Manufacturability, First Time Qualifications (FTQ)
  • PMP Certification About Medtronic
