The State of Connecticut Judicial Branch, Office of the Probate Court Administrator, is seeking an Executive Legal Assistant-Probate for a full-time position (40 hours/week) to support advanced-level personal and confidential secretarial assignments for the Office of the Probate Court Administrator.
The preferred candidate will be expected to perform a variety of complex legal and administrative secretarial assignments which require advanced levels of accountability, problem solving and interpersonal contacts; plan, organize and coordinate a full range of legal office activities; utilize personal computers or other electronic equipment to create, format and type a variety of legal documents, reports and correspondence in accordance with established guidelines and deadlines; proofread and edit documents as directed; work collaboratively with the Executive Assistant to the Probate Court Administrator to ensure office coverage and timely completion of assignments; organize and provide diverse, complex and sensitive flow of correspondence, documents, memoranda, etc.; compile and coordinate data for action by the law department; maintain confidentiality of documents; create and maintain filing systems; organize and prioritize all work to meet deadlines; maintain, update and review manuals and reference materials; may make recommendations on improvements of office procedures in order to increase efficiencies; may perform special assignments and routine administrative functions as specifically directed; may assist in training new staff as assigned; performs related duties as required.
Salary Range: $69,862 – $89,323/yr. – plus State of Connecticut benefits.
New employees begin at the minimum. The starting salary for existing state employees may be higher than the minimum, in accordance with existing Judicial Branch policy.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
General Experience: Five (5) years of secretarial work.
Special Experience: Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been in a legal environment.
Substitutions Allowed:
College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equaling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of two (2) years.
