What you will be doing: Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following

  • Rotate through select departments in the Hotel, beginning with an approximate 6 month placement with our Human Resources team. Additional departments could include Housekeeping, Front Office, Restaurants, Banquets, Accounting and/or Spa to provide operational leadership and direction for the day to day operations
  • Support Learning & Development programs by organizing sessions, tracking attendance, and facilitating content
  • Boost heart of house communication by attending various departments’ daily line ups, utilizing our internal communication portal, and maintaining poster/communication boards
  • Assist with planning, promoting and preparing for T&C initiated colleague events
  • Assist with recruitment by screening and interviewing applicants, posting and promoting jobs, and developing creative and engaging LinkedIn content
  • Oversee Health & Safety initiatives and programs; including injury follow up, return to work procedures and Cal/OSHA requirements
  • Handle guest and colleague concerns and react quickly, logging and notifying proper areas
  • Promote positive employee relations through an environment that encourages open communication, trust, mutual respect and fun
  • Work with the team on new processes and actively share ideas, opinions and suggestions to improve the environment and hotel experience
  • Balance operational, administrative and colleague needs by focusing on guests feedback surveys, colleague feedback surveys and financial results
  • Assist in overall Hotel management responsibilities as needed
  • Adhere to all employment standards, Corporate T&C policies and Fairmont standards
  • Follow department policies, procedures and service standards
  • Follow all health and safety policies

Other duties as assigned

Your experience and skills include:

  • Previous experience in the hospitality industry required, preferably in a Hotel setting
  • Knowledge of Spanish require
  • Diploma/Certification in Hospitality, Hotel, and/or Restaurant discipline an asset
  • Service focused personality and passion for hospitality
  • Proven ability to build and maintain good relationships with all stakeholders
  • Communicate thoughts, actions and opportunities clearly with strong networking skills
  • Results oriented with the ability to be flexible and work well under pressure
  • Ability to lead by example, believe in a strong team culture and set the scene for high performance
