Job description: Purpose: Support the Human Resources function in all aspects, focusing on payroll, recruitment and selection, training and development, safety/worker’s compensation and benefits administration.

REPORTS TO: Human Resources Director

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as primary point of contact for Human Resources needs at Linden Hills Co-op.
  • Respond to employee inquiries about benefits, payroll, time off, HR policies, etc.
  • Create, coordinate and conduct New Employee Orientation. Update orientation process as needed.
  • Partner with hiring managers on all recruitment and selection activities.
  • Use appropriate recruitment tools to attract high-quality applicants for all open positions.
  • Pre-screen applications in conjunction with hiring managers, conduct screening interviews, and educate managers about the effective use of selection techniques.
  • Conduct reference checks on select candidates.
  • Ensure that job descriptions are current, accurately reflecting responsibilities, essential physical functions, and required qualifications.
  • Produce periodic payroll reports, various HR reports and custom management reports.
  • Proactively work with management and staff to identify training needs and develop programs to meet them.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, with special attention to anti-discrimination laws.
  • Work with employees, workers’ compensation insurance company, and health care providers to report, monitor, and manage claims.
  • Assist in maintaining an open, approachable, and professional department that responds to employee questions and concerns.
  • Maintain awareness of workplace culture.
  • Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Prepare required government reports (e.g., EEO-1, OSHA) and other reports as needed; review miscellaneous reports to ensure data integrity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years Human Resources experience required. Payroll, recruitment, selection, training and work comp/safety experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s or other certification/degree in Human Resources or related preferred.
  • Commitment to confidentiality.
  • Proactively work with management and staff to identify training needs and develop programs to meet them.
  • Ability to draft, present and communicate effectively via written and verbal communications for all levels of audiences in a collaborative and clear manner.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work in a safe manner, following all safety instructions.
  • Work in a collaborative culture, and be open to feedback and willing to take direction.
  • Strong computer literacy, including MS Office and HRIS.
  • Ability to work well with people from a broad range of backgrounds and experience in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with customers and coworkers from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to work with TCCP to create an inclusive environment where all are welcomed.

Essential Physical Functions:

  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods of time processing on a computer.
  • Ability to physically move between floors and among store offices.
  • Must be able to communicate, present and exchange information and express oneself.
  • Ability to lift files and boxes weighing up to 25 pounds
