Job description: REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCES

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Information Technology Specialist in the Aviation – Network Information Systems Division.

General Description

The position consists of advanced professional and administrative work with responsibilities to design, develop and implement advanced network automation processes in the areas of the airport network technologies, which are poorly covered by out-of-the-box solutions deployed by BCAD IS network team. Person at this position is responsible for expanding abilities of the current automation and management techniques above the scope exist in standard network automation and management tools, by developing custom software solutions which are utilizing solutions APIs, programming languages and tools such as Python, GitLab, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Jenkins, Powershell, etc.. Must have extensive work experience as network solution architect or engineer engineer, advanced knowledge for network fundamental concepts, Internet Protocol suite and network devices operational principals to develop custom network automation solutions utilizing core programming concepts. Must have extensive experience in software development of front end solutions utilizing HTML5, CSS and JavaScript with database back-end on Oracle or SQL server.

Must have advanced experience and intimate knowledge in deploying network automation and monitoring methods based on SNMP, WMI, NetFlow, SSH and IPSLA protocols. Must have advanced experience in ODBC and API integration with enterprise NMS software tools such Cisco DNAC, Solarwinds Orion, Intermapper or other enterprise class NMS solutions with open API.

This position requires an expert level of technical and analytical skills to install, configure, administer and troubleshoot the Cisco network L2/L3 switches, routers, Cisco Wireless LAN controllers and Cisco firewalls at the Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport. Must have expert knowledge on Internet Protocol suite, OSI model, VRF Lite, QoS, OSPF, PBR, WiFi Standards, IPsec/SSL VPNs and VoIP protocols. This position also requires extensive experience in packet analysis for security and traffic packet capture analysis for network troubleshooting.

Reviews County-wide information technology strategic direction, programming techniques, industry best practices, related technology

studies, and recommends approaches or enhancement plans for incorporation of the emerging technologies when appropriate. Plans, organizes and implements approved emerging technologies. Supervises professional and technical personnel in assigned work teams or sections.

Administers County-wide technological specialty functions. Reviews systems designs, development of applications, and documentation for accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to departmental standards.

Documentation of deployment, security, quality assurance, change controls, and compliance.

Responsible for budgetary planning and technical writing for Statement of Work (SOW).

Performs related work as required.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in computer science or closely related field.

(Two years of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.)

Requires four (4) years of experience in systems analysis, systems design and/or applications programming relevant to area of assignment including related project management or closely related experience.

All Aviation Department employees must possess the ability to interact courteously with the public, Airport vendors, contractors and fellow employees to maintain a professional work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that promotes a positive work environment.

Must be able to obtain and maintain an Airport issued SIDA Badge.

Special Certifications and Licenses

Cisco Technical Certifications for Associate/Professional/Expert levels in Enterprise, Security or Collaboration tracks (preferred)

Must be authorized to drive on County business for duration of employment.

Preferences

Master’s Degree in Information Systems or related field Experience in developing network automation tools with Python, GitLab, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Jenkins, Powershell

Experience in software development of front end solutions utilizing HTML5, CSS and JavaScript with database back-end development on Oracle and/or SQL Server

Experience with Airport-Specific IT Systems

Additional Information:
