Job description: Summary of Position

Falvey Insurance Group (FIG) represents a consortium of insurance carriers, each with their own core competencies in insurance underwriting across specialized verticals including Marine Cargo, Pollution, and Shippers Insurance.

Falvey Insurance Services (FIS) is the new wholesale brokerage arm of Falvey Insurance Group. Tapping into over 1,000 currently appointed agents, our current focus is on placements in the ocean marine and logistics space. As our wholesale division matures, the aim is to offer a wider spectrum of insurance products.

The Lead Broker/Producer will be the first Wholesale Producer at Falvey and will build a book of business through referrals from our 20 internal underwriters, external marketing and personal relationship building across the Falvey network.

Position Functions

This position’s functions include:

Work with retail insurance agents, to develop and submit business to target markets for placement.

Build relationships with our in-house underwriters and brokerage markets.

Build relationships with carrier underwriters.

4. Assess new business / renewal submissions and negotiate terms to provide best options to customers.

Monitor submission process, to assure quotes are provided in a timely manner and negotiate with all parties involved.

Coordinate and handle administrative workflows in conjunction with support team(s) to establish accurate and prompt response to service issues.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Candidate should be a self-starter with creative mindset and able to move from account to account and manage a multitude of scenarios at all times. The ability to navigate the wholesale brokerage landscape is a plus.

Candidate should be a team player who can work effectively in a team environment in a professional manner with all level of company staff including management and other departments as well as Company clients.

Candidate should have strong organizational and presentation skills through both verbal and written communication.

Candidate should have the ability to work independently and use personal computer, calculator, company automation system and proficiency in various software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.

Candidate should have the skillset to manage and organize ever changing carrier appetite and guidelines to enable a streamline workflow.

Other Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of experience working as an insurance broker and/or wholesale broker is preferred. Past experience should include Wholesale Broker, MGA, or Carrier work.

Strong knowledge and experience in the ocean marine and logistics insurance space including: coverages, rating, terminology and technical procedures is preferred but not required.

Proven record of being skilled in business writing and problem/situation analysis, business development, and submissions from direct production responsibilities.

Must be willing to obtain Property & Casualty Producer’s License within company allocated time frame from date of employment.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of times, communicate via telephone, and operate a computer including the Microsoft Suite.

None to start. Possible in the future.

Hours of Operation and Working Conditions

This position’s work 40 hours a week Monday through Friday. This position may require occasional flexibility for working additional hours to accomplish project objectives. Ability to travel will be necessary for this position.
