Employee Engagement and Development
POSITION SUMMARY
The BorgWarner Human Resources Co-Op Program is designed to provide hands-on opportunity to learn Generalist & Specialist HR Support functions from the perspective of a Tier-One Automotive Supplier. This rotation will primarily focus on Employee Engagement and Development activities.
This is a paid opportunity.
Primarily reporting to HR Business Partners with direction from other HR/EHS Team members on a project basis.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES
To gain experience with the full range of HR activities, Co-Op rotates through special projects and general support activities in the following areas:
Employee Engagement
- Research best practices/opportunities to optimize 2 way communications with workforce of hourly and salary with a wide range of aptitude and preferences.
HR Communications
- Develop and implement Communications Campaigns for the following topics:
o Outreach activities
o Wellness
o Events
o T&D Activities
o Support Constant Contact (HR Communication system)
- Employer Branding
o Research best practices/opportunities for local employer branding
o Develop an employer branding marketing strategy and long-range plan for increasing and evaluating BW’s presence in the community
Training & Development
- Training Planning and Coordination
o Support onboarding activities and other training sessions
- Tracking and Evaluating
o Update training records for audit compliance
Generalist
- Employee Relations (i.e., policy handbook review and updates, alignment with best practices, maintain employee files)
- HR Administrative Activities (i.e., event support, team wear distribution, employee communication, data entry/analysis, documentation)
- Works as a member of the HR team, takes on responsibilities normally assigned to entry-level HR Generalist
- Support HRIS activities (WorkDay position management, HandShake)
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Prefer students in HR Management or General Business Administration with a minimum GPA 3.0
Preferred course work completed in two or more of the following areas: Recruitment & Personnel Planning, Employment Laws & Regulations, Org Development, Compensation & Benefits, Training & Development, Marketing, Professional Development, and/or Payroll
Previous business work experience is a plus
A flexible part-time schedule is available up to 28 hours per week.
Student must be a self-driven and able to accomplish entry-level HR tasks with decreasing supervision
Strong written and verbal communication skills are required
Ability to maintain confidentiality of all privileged information
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Housing stipend is not included with this position, therefore local housing and transportation must be provided by the candidate
Proficient in English
