The Opportunity:Â Reporting to the EP & SVP Creative, Mattel Television, the Manager, Creative, is responsible for the divisionâs day to day content development and production activities as they relate to Mattelâs dolls portfolio and/or other girl-targeted entertainment. This role is that of a âcreative executiveâ and the primary function is creative oversight of current productions and communications between the productions and various Mattel entities (e.g., Brand, Product, Design, Legal, Music, PR). In addition, the Manager, Creative is involved with the development of new properties (owned and original) and works closely with other members of the Mattel Television Creative department.

The ideal candidate for this position has a passion for storytelling, a knack for problem-solving, and a penchant for organization. Further, as the work environment is one of frequent, shifting priorities and focus, the perfect candidate is comfortable with quick pivots and changing agendas. The role requires a great deal of collaboration, cooperation and compromise (as well as a sense of humor!) and the ideal candidate will excel in these areas.
Responsibilities:
- Creative Development
- Take content pitches and review content submissions.
- Prepare creative briefs, story arenas.
- Present creative materials internally and externally, to executives, partners and cross-functional teams.
- Participate in creative and strategic brainstorms.
- Work with writers and producers to develop story premises and character arcs.
- Review and provide feedback on stories and written submissions.
- Oversee visual development; assist in developing signature style and design language.
- Manage creation of development materials (pitch bibles, scripts, artwork, animation tests).
- Pitch concepts internally and to potential platforms/buyers.
- Maintain development database and weekly updates for distribution.
- Â Â Creative Production
- Liaison between Production and cross-functional teams.
- Liaison with Buyers/Co-Production partners.
- Manage creative producers on productions.
- Guide creative aspects of productions:Â Script writing/editing, art direction/design, storyboards/animatics, music, casting, etc.
What Weâre Looking For:Â
Requirements:
- Interest in animation development and/or production
- Experience in a creative division of a large company
- College degree
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred:Â
- 3-5 years relevant experience in entertainment and/or toy industry
