Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking a Manager, Manufacturing Operations to join the team at our Advanced Manufacturing Facility in Huntsville, AL.
Reporting directly to the Sr. Manager, Manufacturing Operations, this position develops strategies and manages the execution of the production activities.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)
The successful individual will be responsible for manufacturing of high technology products that conform to contractual and Aerojet Rocketdyne requirements for performance, reliability and any special characteristics. Assures that activities within defined scope are accomplished in accordance with Aerojet Rocketdyne policies, sound business practices and are in compliance with applicable regulations and requirements. Typically accomplishes results through hourly, non-exempt, or exempt employees. Monitors work operations on a daily basis and actively assists or provides direction to subordinates.
40% – Provide direction to 50+ subordinates guided by established policies and precedents; holding safety as the highest priority. Interpret and execute policies that typically affect individual employees of organization.
30% – Provide technical and administrative supervision to multiple programs within the operations group in the manufacturing area. Influence and coordinate across departments to align support for production activities.
20% – Create and execute strategic plans to optimize schedule, personnel, material and equipment to ensure that production goals are met. This is accomplished by using lean manufacturing tools to orchestrate the production line activities. Ensure facilities are clean and maintained to support operations.
10% – Establish and maintain a variety of KPIs and reports to monitor internal operating controls. Clearly communicate targets and action plans to the team and drive to success. Respond to issues that arise on the shop floor.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and nine (9) years of directly related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required skills and knowledge include:
- Supervisory and administrative skills including the ability to select, appraise, motivate and develop subordinates.
- Knowledge in a manufacturing environment with process equipment, specialty tooling and facility maintenance.
- Familiarity with SH&E practices in the manufacturing environment.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Ability to provide effective direction, leadership and team building.
- Demonstrated abilities to plan, prioritize and delegate work assignments, including ability to define, implement and execute standard work.
- Skills and abilities to provide technical and administrative guidance for activities in defined scope of responsibilities.
- Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of management and individual contributors both verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge and ability to supervise/manage multi-functional manufacturing operations.
- Knowledge of design practices, manufacturing techniques and inspection requirements as they relate to the production floor.
May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Requires U.S. Citizenship. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. May also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer. Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
