Collins Aerospace is looking for a Manager, Quality Engineering to accept a high level of responsibility within a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This position manages and ensures execution and compliance to Collins Aerospace Quality Management System. You will lead a team of primarily intermediate to experienced Quality Assurance professionals. You will drive AZDP and work hand in hand with Riverside Quality community and programs to reduce and/or eradicate manufacturing defects. Must be able to work with a diverse cross functional team to support the Riverside site’s quality goals and metrics.
Primary Responsibilities
Manage and lead a team of Quality engineers and professionals
Skilled at building effective teams and able to thrive in a dynamic, fast paced work environment
Understanding of basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution
Proven ability to influence diverse cross-functional teams without formal authority
Manage external and internal quality issues in a timely professional manner
Provide support relative to the collection and analysis of Program quality data
Manage team to collect and analyze data to identify adverse trends and improvement opportunities for targeted areas of the organization
Support preparation, review and approval of specific quality documents, such as Quality Plans
Manage and participate and prepare for customer, third party regulatory and internal audits
Perform as quality leader/focal with engineering, customer service support and operations to investigate and correct various quality issues related to internal non-conformances, product returns, supplier issues, customer complaints and corrective action requests with clear and concise reports to customers
Development, Implementation and optimization of inspection plans/standard work.
Manage team and drive AZDP improvements to reduce/eliminate system manufacturing defects
Develops and implements program quality plans and procedures.
Actively manages and supports NPI and Value Stream programs planning and execution (FAI’s).
Facilitate the investigation and elimination of causes of quality problems and follow-up on corrective actions
Ability to multitask, problem solve and manage time effectively. Must have solid organizational skills.
Strong analytical, numerical and reasoning abilities using root cause analysis and statistics
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Results oriented, with a strong bias for action
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR
Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
Demonstrated skill and success in team leadership, facilitation & coaching skills
Experience with AS9100 and Nadcap Special Process accreditation/audits
Experience with FAI’s
Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in science or business
Preferred Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing and/or Aerospace Engineering degree
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
Analytical, problem solving & mathematic skills
Proven flexibility / adaptability in high stress, ambiguous environments
Familiarity with Net-Inspect and Discuss
Experienced working on shop floor in an Assembly, composites, or detail sheet metal fabrication facility
Shop floor experience with chemical processing, NDT and composites manufacturing
Experience utilizing CATIA V5/V6 and 3D Experience Software Suite.
Understanding and application of fundamental GD&T
Demonstrated experience implementing world class manufacturing techniques
ASQ Certified Quality Engineer
Certified in Lean manufacturing or Six-Sigma with demonstrated ability to establish and mature a CI/CORE culture
