Job description: SUMMARY:

The Cigna Group Medicare Marketing Communications Specialist is primarily responsible for developing and carrying out the marketing tactics for the Group Medicare segment in the Government Business. The Group Medicare segment is building out a multi-year growth strategy with interdependencies across the Cigna enterprise. The Marketing Communications Specialist within this organization will play a critical role in the execution phase of the strategy.

In this role you will work closely with our Medicare Product Team, Client Services, Sales Leadership, Creative Services, Brand, Compliance, Segment Marketing matrix partners, and vendors in the development of a range of print materials, presentations, and online content as needed for Group client, customer and broker audiences. In addition, you will develop relationships with our internal partners and channels beyond the Government Business segment (Cigna Commercial medical and pharmacy, Express Scripts, etc.) to develop and communicate our value proposition, product offering and competitive advantage through internal marketing training and materials.

You will also build a knowledge of our organization, processes, brand standards, and the clients and customers we serve. You should be able to solve a range of straightforward and ambiguous problems with minimal guidance, and create new and improved processes each year based on CMS and state agency guidance changes, product capabilities, internal opportunities and other circumstances.

RESPONSIBILIITIES:

  • Support ongoing development of marketing material including, but not limited to, flyers, brochures, presentations, direct mail, and event promotions to support the employer and customer sales and enrollment processes.
  • Ensure the multiple product, client and state variations of these marketing materials are accurate, consistent, reflect our brand and the applicable market requirements, based on product offerings and availability.
  • Partner with and independently navigate cross-functional matrix partners to create and maintain sales, enrollment, and educational materials supporting group clients, customers, and brokers. This can include strategic direction as well as direct copywriting/editing/design.
  • Understand and apply the compliance guidelines outlined and updated each year by CMS and corporate compliance and privacy guidelines.
  • Coordinate Medicare and state health care compliance review submission processes.
  • Support Sales and Client Services in the development/implementation of client, customer, event, broker, and/or product-specific growth initiatives.
  • Contribute to over-arching marketing strategy aligned with Group Medicare sales goals and objectives.
  • Make tactical decisions based on client, customer, and broker needs with minimal guidance.
  • Contribute to process oversight and development (e.g. annual updates, project management work plans, process improvements, and reporting).
  • Work with Accounts Payable and Marketing Finance to submit purchase order requests and generate purchase orders and manage budget reconciliation.
  • Identify and assess conference, event, and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Conduct market and competitor research with minimal guidance.
  • Represent Marketing in training, education, enrollment, and process improvement initiatives with internal and external audiences.
  • Support urgent/ad-hoc marketing requests on an as-needed basis.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience creating documents in regulated environment.
  • 3-5+ years of health care experience specific to Medicare and/or employer group segments .
  • Marketing/Communications background preferred.
  • Proficient in PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Training and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships across Cigna and with external partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities on deadline with quality and accuracy.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Creative and forward thinking.
  • Self-motivated learner with the ability to learn on the fly.
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed during peak seasons.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to travel overnight domestically up to 15% as needed.
