Job description: Summary/Objective:

Production Manager is responsible for ensuring day to day success on all production lines, as well as consistent effort towards continual improvement. This should be carried out through executing on team member development programs and production floor processes and policies set by client.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor production lines to ensure they’re on pace to hit their daily goals.
  • Determine as early as possible if a line will need to stay late to hit their goals and notify the team members involved.
  • Assist in line down situations.
  • Ensure we maintain a constant attitude of high quality and maximum efficiency throughout the production floor.
  • Ensure all processes, policies and Core Values are being followed, maintained, and continually improved upon.
  • Recommend process improvements
  • Train Line Leaders and Team Leaders on best practices for running production lines including lean and 5S techniques
  • Change production lines as needed for maximum efficiency and error proofing.
  • Ensure finalized production lines are captured as accurately as possible through documentation including process maps.
  • Assist in execution of training team members based on documented processes
  • Provide feedback for changes in training processes or need for new training processes.
  • Continual coaching of team leaders and line leaders in line setup, error proofing, line balancing, process improvement, and leadership.
  • Conduct regular reviews with all team leaders and line leaders based on recurring review system.
  • Training of line leaders and team leaders in leadership.
  • Facilitate team member training after promotion.
  • Identify team members who are under-utilized and create growth/training plans.
  • Facilitate Performance Action Plans,
  • Manage Production Training Matrix.
  • Monitor floor for current and future needs at all positions.
  • Work with Production Planner to set job priorities and improve scheduling efficiency.
  • Set and communicate daily goals for production floor.
  • CAD skills are highly desired.
  • Assembly line and plant layout experience preferred.

Working Conditions:

Manufacturing facility that has metal fabrication and assembly processes.

Qualifications: Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing
  • 3+ years of manufacturing leadership experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field such as process or manufacturing engineering, operations management, or equivalent is preferred but not required
  • Experience utilizing Lean Six Sigma or 5S principles

Supervisory Responsibility:

Production Manager will supervise a team consisting of line leaders, quality auditors, and production operators totaling over 20 team members. They would be accountable for the performance of the production staff at large including monitoring and assisting in performance review of a first and second shift.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

This position is very active and requires extensive standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee may have to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time salary position, and hours/days of work are decided by production schedules and the General Manager.

Travel: Travel will be minimal and would be primarily local during the business day. Corporate team building and training may occasionally take place in Indiana.

Expected salary: $75000 – 90000 per year
