Job description: Overview

Provide deep technical subject matter expertise (SME) on projects and programs related to radio frequency (RF) instrument tasking, collection, processing, exploitation, and dissemination (TCPED) for space applications. Candidate must have an expert understanding of phase-based Fourier Transform processing, scientific analysis of data via statistical methods, modern wireless radio technology, and astronomy and orbital mechanics. Characterization as a recognized SME with national-level long baseline interferometric (LBI) RF instruments is a position requirement. A record of publications in the RF and LBI fields is desired, to further establish subject matter expertise and recognized national credentials. At least 10 years of work experience in relevant positions is required.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Advise on technical applications of RF LBI instrumentation to the processing of manmade signals to meet specific capability goals.
  • Assist in coordination among government LBI instrument management organizations, program management and funding organizations, and data consumer organizations.
  • Develop operational concepts and specific technical approaches throughout the TCED cycle as required.
  • Analyze data and provide recommendations regarding data content, improvements to existing approaches, and means to achieve additional capabilities.
  • Participate in test events, technical and programmatic meetings, and formal presentation events in person or remote, as required.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • A U.S. Citizen able to obtain and maintain a US Department of Defense Security Clearance
  • PhD in Astronomy, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or closely-related discipline
  • 10 years or more of relevant experience

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Previous employment with national-level RF LBI instrument operational organization.
