The Talent Mine is looking for a Senior Platform (Backend) Engineer for a well-funded startup based out of Seattle who is knocking down the barriers to entry in real-estate investment, making it accessible for everyday people. Our client has pioneered an investment platform that acquires and manages high-quality residential rental homes in diversified marketplaces and provides a user-friendly platform to buy ownership interests for as little as $100 per share. They are a small and quickly growing team, passionate about their mission to help others meet their financial goals.


Our client is looking for an engineer to help lead and build out their trading platform and other back end services. Engineers in this role will have the opportunity to help build the engineering team from the ground up, including both leadership and technical growth opportunities as they expand. Their backend technologies currently include: Spring + Kotlin/Java microservices, SQL, and AWS. Engineers hired for this role are not limited to backend work, and are welcomed to work in other areas of the technology stack, which includes a React/Typescript front-end. This team values trust and the creative freedom that helps engineering teams deliver their best product.

Required Qualifications:

3+ years experience working with a Java/Kotlin backend.

Have extensive knowledge of at least one backend framework/language like Spring or DropWizard.

Have familiarity with various programming paradigms and architectures.

Are experienced in web services with focus on HTTP RESTful APIs.

Understand relational databases and data modeling.

Love working with other team members to help them, and have them help you, to learn and grow.

Thrive in a fast-paced unstructured environment where you are responsible for setting your priorities and owning your schedule.

Can reduce complex problems down to the right balance of ease of use, power, and flexibility.
