What you will do
As a senior member of the International Emerging Technology team, you will lead the Bentonville-based engineering team with a mission to deploy the latest technology in-market. You will oversee the evaluation, integration, and performance of proof of concepts abroad. You will partner with the product and research components of your squad to ensure that your solutions attack the core problem and offer the most value to the end user.
Work with startups from around the world, develop new technologies, and test how each stacks up against the real-world challenges of associate and consumer use. The solutions may involve robotics, machine learning, computer vision, IoT, prototype manufacturing, web and mobile apps, and the connection of their supporting services and systems.
Guide the development and patenting of internal prototypes, of a variety of technologies.
Define the vision and strategies using your domain expertise.
Analyze third party solutions and their components to understand their services, security vulnerabilities, and areas of improvement.
Evaluate technical feasibility as well as create timelines and milestones that guide your engineers toward the goal.
Ensure technical accuracy of contracts alongside the product owner and partners.
Develop code to support the squad’s efforts as well as perform code reviews when necessary.
Help to design the solution architecture of network and system-based solutions.
Oversee the security reviews of internal and external solutions so that the internal policies of Walmart are upheld.
Ensure the adherence to engineering best practices when designing, deploying, and maintaining solutions in-market.
Establish relationships with market partners.
Look for development opportunities for your squad of engineers and encourage their continued growth.
Monitor the performance of your team over time and look for areas of improvement.
Monitor and research current and upcoming trends in technologies.

Demonstrated 4+ years leadership/management experience
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Math, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field. Equivalent experience will be considered.
Minimum 8+ years software development and test experience
Experience in one of the following fields
Experience in several of the following
Java, PHP, Python
C/C++ on Windows
Experience in one of the following platforms
Experience with a variety of operating systems
Experience in a startup or innovation/emerging technology team
Experience in a variety of engineering fields and duties
Enterprise design and development experience
Professional Software or Solution Architecture experience
Experience with microcontrollers or other resource-constrained device
Experience with physical computing
Experience with artificial intelligence, internet of things, deep learning, or extended realities

1 year’s supervisory experience.
