Systems Administrator position in the CNS Office of Information Technology to provide leadership and technical expertise in the area of Linux system and network administration while working as part of the systems administration team. Responsible for managing Linux servers and workstations. Responsible for support and management of networking hardware including cabling, switch port configuration, SOHO and VRF-aware firewall configurations, and troubleshooting. Managing network services such as DHCP and DNS. Liaise with the Campus Networking Team.
Must be eligible to work in the US on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship.
- Work with members of the Quest group to design, install and operate Linux Servers.
- Work with other campus groups as needed for centrally provided services such as Oracle Database support, Identity and Access Management, Networking, etc.
- Provide back-up support to current systems administration staff on Linux based computing systems (desktop and server).
- Perform hardware and software monitoring of systems and services.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Three years of experience managing Linux or Unix servers. Strong scripting and automation skills. Proven understanding of network concepts, hardware and services (such as DNS, DHCP, NAT and Private IP addressing, subnetting, Ethernet and ARP concepts, cabling, VLANs, firewalls, switches, hubs, etc.). Proven ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues to meet the needs of clients with widely varying technical backgrounds. Demonstrated ability to work independently and without day-to-day supervision on highly varied technical tasks with changing priorities.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Five years experience administering Linux systems and/or LAN networking in an enterprise environment. General experience with information security issues and best practices as applies to systems administration and networking. Experience deploying virtual machines and/or containers, small scale clustered or distributed data storage systems, high performance computing and GPU computing systems. Knowledge of Cisco networking and firewall devices. Familiarity with using a configuration management framework. Familiarity with networking concepts and devices such as VRF/VRF-Lite, WAPs, VoIP and network diagnostic tools.
$80,000 + depending on qualifications
