The responsibilities of the SPM, Administration and Culture are as follows:
Under the strategic leadership and guidance of the Director of EDIB Strategy, implements a wide array of human resource practices and processes that preserves our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, and supports our ability to live into our values of being an anti-racist organization.
Liaises with HGSE’s Office of Human Resources to support the needs of the Center in alignment with University and HGSE policies and protocols and answers internal inquiries related to HR policy and procedures.
Develops, maintains, and continuously improves all internal HR process and procedures, documentation, templates, job descriptions and the HR SharePoint site; create/generate metrics and other workforce analytics to support decision making; streamline on-boarding and off-boarding processes at the Center for efficiency and standardization.
Leads the assessment and improvement of our hiring and retention practices, including the Center’s professional development systems to ensure they assess performance, foster accountability, promote EDIB engagement, encourage growth of team members, and create transparent and equitable growth pathways.
Develops workplans to support the Center with job postings, coordinating interviews, assisting with resume screening, references, and coordinating new hire paperwork completion, orientation and onboarding activities, non-exempt time approval and coordination of the performance management and staff recognition via-bonus process for the organization.
Independently gathers information on Harvard University policies and provides clear and concise guidance to hiring managers as needed.
Liaises with HGSE HR and hiring managers on all hiring processes at the Center including contingent workers, temporary hires, fellows, and Experts in Residence (EIRs).
Work closely with the Director of EDIB Strategy to document, implement and continuously evaluate the Center’s strategy for attracting, recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and retaining highly skilled talent with an emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
With the support of the Senior Finance and Administration Coordinator (SFC), review current administrative practices and processes for needed improvements to increase efficiency, efficacy, and equity across the Center.
In partnership with the Center Leadership Team (CLT), proactively designs monthly all-staff meeting agendas and coordinates logistics with the SFC.
Performs other duties as assigned.
This is a two year term position with possibility of renewal.

The SPM, Administration and Culture will report to the Director of EDIB Strategy and collaborate on fostering a professional culture that is values-driven, both results- and process-oriented, focused on excellence, and a place where people enjoy working.
The SPM, Administration and Culture will serve as the Center’s principal liaison with the Department of Human Resources at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education and will ensure that relevant activities are developed and carried out in alignment with and/or consultation with HGSE Human Resources and Harvard University policies. The SPM will regularly work closely with, seek advice from, and share information with their HR partner(s) at the school.
The SPM will interact with all levels of staff at the Center, answering inquiries and/or referring to HGSE HR, related to HR policy and procedures, thoughtfully navigating the grey areas, create compelling employee communications and engagement activities, and actively managing projects and implementing process improvements. As such, the SPM is responsible for a high level of coordination, efficiently juggling multiple duties and timelines with a high degree of discretion and confidentiality, fostering, and maintaining positive working relationships through proactive communication.
