The Manager, Transportation and Logistics is responsible and accountable for the management and delivery of logistics activities in support of Operations and in accordance with Arlon’s policies and procedures and local country requirements.

This position ensures the transportation, warehousing and logistics oversight and success of the operational and financial improvements for all regions domestically and international. Arlon locations include – the USA (CA and TX); additional 3PL locations.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Own inbound and outbound transportation and logistics with key goals of improving delivery time to customers and reducing the cost of transportation. Full responsibility for transportation expense item in P&L.
  • Evaluate and create capability to gain efficiencies through cross-dock, consolidation, back haul and other logistics strategies.
  • Oversee and coordinate program activities designed to ensure effective and economical support delivery of various goods and services.
  • Manage, monitor, improve and report on all aspects of logistics (storage, transportation, freight costs).
  • Develop and implement process and infrastructure around inbound freight and logistics
  • Manage and optimize inbound and outbound ocean shipments to minimize cost and improve delivery reliability for customer and warehouse orders.
  • Assure that products are being distributed in an efficient and profitable manner
  • Negotiate 3PL and direct contracts aligned with mid-term and long-term strategy with key carriers to improve pricing, performance, and support.
  • Ensure maximum customer service, order fill rate, on-time shipment, on-time delivery, order accuracy, and optimal performance, balanced with cost and time/flexibility. Manage key internal and client-facing metrics and define strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of current regulations and trends affecting logistics and transportation related activities.
  • Identify and implement changes to operations, documents, agreements, etc. to facilitate continuous improvement and adherence to legal requirements.
  • Maintain a safe work environment through training, equipment and process improvements.
  • Lead team of direct reports to ensure business outcomes and goals are defined and met
  • Analyze and understand data presented, in measuring and quantifying performance
  • Participate in setting Transportation & Logistics targets, goals and direction for strategic plan and budgeting cycle.
  • Ensure that logistics activities are following United States Customs and Border Protection regulations.
  • Lead Transportation and Logistics team.


Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Transportation and Logistics or another relevant field of study
  • Minimum four (4) years related experience, including international operations and people management
  • Deep understanding of Transportation and Logistics Operations
  • General knowledge of integrated manufacturing, including WMS (SAP preferred)
  • Strong communication skills (listening, speaking, writing, presentation, inter-personal)

Additional Optional/Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in supply chain management or MBA
  • CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional)
  • CPIM (Certified in Planning/Production and Inventory Management)
