Job description: Role Summary/Purpose:

The role will provide strategic leadership for Enterprise Architecture and engineering leadership for our API & Microservices platforms. An ideal candidate will have broad understanding of our products and capabilities as well as deep expertise in engineering and operating new solutions.

This position is remote, where you have the option to work from home. On occasion we may request for you to commute to our nearest office for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and culture events. Essential Responsibilities:

Provide leadership, engagement and oversight of Enterprise Architecture across all Technology domains within Synchrony including Engineering, CTO and Information Security.

Provide Enterprise Architecture Community of Practice leadership for a matrixed group of Enterprise Architects / Engineers.

Work with Technology leadership to develop, maintain and drive Technology strategy.

Work with Agile functional business owners / produce owners to create a two-way Architectural strategy forum.

Provide leadership and expertise on API engineering working closely with the Agile Development teams.

Provide platform roadmaps, build & operational leadership for Forum & Apigee technologies.

Successfully translate business and commercial needs into well engineered API solutions

Develop strategic plans on evolving API solutions to continue to drive success in the marketing place

Build and manage API engineering teams of engineers in support of Agile teams and run organizations

Be a zealous advocate for strong solution architecture with an intense focus on market flexibility and operational resiliency

Mentor and influence stakeholders to ensure engineering excellence

Build and enhance relationships across the organization

Participate in agile team planning and retrospectives

Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of progressive work experience.

5+ years as Solution Architect and/or Reliability Engineer

5+ years leading employee and contractor teams

Strong communications and relationship building skills

Experience with Agile methodology

Experience with Customer facing digital solutions

Excellent communications skills, ability to explain, influence and negotiate

Desired Characteristics:

Extensive experience in the fintech Industry as it relates to consumer financing

Willingness to engage across suite of technologies and business capabilities

Boundaryless thinking and willing to engage in engineering challenges wherever they present themselves

Deep experience in service-oriented architecture

Critical thinking and creativity

Eligibility Requirements:

You must be 18 years or older

You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).

The salary range for this position is 115,000.00 – 230,000.00 USD Annual

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA and Metro NY and some positions are bonus eligible.
