What you’ll do…
As a Merchandising Director for Directed Spend, you will work across all facets of the business, including but not limited to category strategy, team management, budgeting and forecasting, business development, and supplier negotiations. You will own and set the overall strategic direction for the business unit and align with broader Walmart strategies. You know your supplier and customer needs better than anyone else and are constantly thinking about what is next for your business. Your success requires tenacity, an analytical mindset, influence, and a competitive spirit. You’ll use your executive presence to work with suppliers and partners at all levels and navigate interesting, complex challenges.
Note: At Walmart Directed Spend is a fintech payments technology that enables companies to substantiate specific SKUs as eligible with provided funds. This technology integrates incentive-based purchasing into existing shopping routines, which helps our customers save time and money by working with suppliers, payors and employers to fund these purchases that support a growing B2B2C market.

You enjoy owning and developing strategic plans for highly complex categories, supporting long term business plans and executing prioritized strategic programs.
You are data savvy, can analyze competition, customer behavior, industry trends, and the macro environment.
You are omni channel customer-focused, understand customer behavior across stores and eComm channels, and make customer-centric recommendations and decisions across all customer touchpoints.
You have proven digital acumen and know how to leverage it to drive your omni channel business.
You guide suppliers, vendors and your cross functional team in the development of customer focused processes and products.
You have strong communication skills that enable you to convey complex topics in a concise manner to various audiences.
You are tenacious, dedicated and thrive working with ownership, autonomy, and a healthy dose of competition.
You are a people leader with a passion for developing and mentoring talent.
You’ll make an impact by:
Setting the strategy: you’ll create and iterate on long term Directed Spend growth strategies focused on capturing market share and improving the customer value proposition within multiple categories.
Leading projects and program management efforts: you’ll lead and manage complex, medium to large-scale cross-functional client implementation projects, overseeing execution of the directed spend program.
Driving implementation communications: you’ll develop and present compelling stories to senior leadership regarding partnership progress, risks and opportunities.
Growing your business for stores and eComm channels: you’ll make decisions about nearly every aspect of new business development including communication strategy, technology, governance, assortment, forecasts, suppliers and budgets and will use an entrepreneurial and creative approach working with our Technology and Product Development teams to design, develop and launch new products and revenue streams across categories.
Building relationships: you’ll use your influencing and leadership skills to build cross-functional partnerships with suppliers, vendors, business partners and other Merchants to support the Directed Spend vision.
Managing P&L: you’ll manage your P&L and deliver on revenue and profit targets with a focus on maximizing customer retention and LTV for the overall business.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising , or related field and 5 years’ experience in merchandising management, buying, financial planning, operations, or related area. OR 7 years’ experience in merchandising management, buying, financial planning, operations, or related area.
2 years’ supervisory experience.
